Srinagar, March 20: Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday said that the Mini Maternity Hospital at Zakoora was constructed at a huge cost and was presently non-functional.
The information was provided in the Legislative Assembly in response to a starred question raised by MLA Salman Sagar regarding the hospital and steps are being taken to make it operational.
“The Mini Maternity Hospital at Zakoora is presently non-functional due to the fact that the building was under occupation of Security Forces for the last four years, which now stands vacated,” the house was informed.
In order to make it operational, the matter has been taken up with Managing Director J&K Housing Board for furnishing of a Detailed Project Report (DPR) so that necessary repair and renovation works can be carried out to make the building suitable for hospital use.
In response to another question whether the government intends to establish a 24×7 Mini Hospital in Fakir Gujri the reply said as per IPHS norms, the nomenclature “Mini Hospital” does not exist.
However, among others, the Sub Centre at Fakir Gujri was upgraded to the level of NTPHC as per Govt. Order No. 585-(HME) of 2014, dated 17-10-2014, along with the creation of one post of Medical Officer. Additionally, one BHW and one MTS have been deputed from SDH Hazratbal.
Furthermore, it was informed that one PG Doctor from the Department of Community Medicine attends OPD three days a week, and one Medical Officer is deputed once or twice a month for USG.
Pertinently, as per Government Order No. 345-HMF of 2012, dated 16-05-2012, New Type Primary Health Centres (NTPHCs) is a changed nomenclature for the erstwhile Allopathic Dispensaries (AD) and is a special initiative of the J&K Government. In response to another question on reopening of SKIMS entry gate from the Anchar side, the house was informed that the entry gate has been closed due to security reasons and as per the directions of Security Agencies.
“There is no proposal to open the Anchar Gate in view of the likely adverse security implications for the SKIMS Institution,” the reply said.
