MeT predicts dry weather till Nov 17

Srinagar, Nov 11: The Meteorological Department (MeT) Thursday predicted mainly dry and clear weather till November 17th in Kashmir. While ski resort Gulmarg continued to remain under sub-zero temperatures for the 4th straight day and settled at minus 2.0°C.
Director MeT, Sonam Lotus told Rising Kashmir that as expected, the weather has improved significantly in Kashmir region on Thursday late afternoon.
“We are expecting mainly dry weather till 17th November,” Lotus said.
He said in the coming days, there will be a slight decrease in day temperatures in the Valley and evenings will be colder.
On Thursday, Srinagar recorded 14.1 °C as the maximum and 4.7 °C as the minimum temperature. Ski-resort Gulmarg recorded 3.0 °C as the maximum temperature and minus 2.0°C as the minimum temperature. It was the coldest place in Kashmir.
Health resort Pahalgam recorded 11.1 °C as maximum temperature and a minimum of 2.8 °C degrees. Qazigund recorded a maximum of 10.5°C and 5.0° C as minimum temperature.
Kupwara in north Kashmir recorded maximum temperatures of 15.3 °C, while minimum temperatures settled at 3.0 °C
As per the traffic advisory issued by the traffic department for Friday, subject to fair weather and better road condition, LMVs(passengers) shall be allowed from both sides of Jammu-Srinagar NHW viz Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa.
“TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban before releasing the traffic, it said.
On the Srinagar-Leh highway, “Subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri road shall be allowed from both sides viz Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa,” the official said.
He said in view of winter season/ frost on road, LMVs followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar at 8 am to 11:30 hrs. Similarly, HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil at 1 PM to 5 PM.
On historic Mughal road, subject to fair weather and good road condition, vehicular movement shall be allowed from both sides on Mughal road viz from Shopian towards Poonch and vice versa .
“ In view of winter/frost on road, LMVs will be released from Behramgalla (Buffliaz), Poonch towards Srinagar and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch and it will be followed by HMVs,” reads the traffic advisory.
