JAMMU, June 24: A major infiltration bid was foiled by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) under ‘Operation Resham’ late last night in Krishna Ghati Sector near the Line of Control (LoC) in border district Poonch of Jammu region.
One soldier was injured in the encounter, while the three terrorists have reportedly “fallen down”.
“The forces, on the intervening night of June 23 and 24, noticed some heavily armed terrorists were trying to infiltrate into the Indian side,” the Defence PRO, Lt Col Devendra Anand said, adding, “the forces opened fire and the encounter ensued”.
One soldier was injured in the encounter and was immediately evacuated and shifted to the hospital, the Defence PRO said.
“After the encounter started, the 3 terrorists tried to run back but were engaged by the alert troops,” Lt Col Devendra Anand said and added, “they (terrorists) were seen falling down near the Line of Control (LoC)”.
