Kishtwar, July 8: LJK Multiple Purpose Cooperative Society Limited (LJK MPCS) has initiated the production and distribution of traditional barley-based laddoos (Prasad) known as “Phimar,” for the Shri Machail Mata Yatra in Paddar area of Kishtwar district.As per a statement issued here, this culturally rooted initiative promotes sustainable nutrition, community development, and regional identity by reviving a traditional sweet made from organically cultivated barley. The ‘laddoos’ are prepared using natural methods and sourced from local farmers, generating employment and encouraging community involvement, especially among women.
By connecting traditional knowledge with contemporary needs, LJK MPCS is advancing a development model that is culturally rooted, socially inclusive and environmentally responsible.
This initiative aligns with the Government of India’s campaign to promote millets and supports local livelihoods, strengthening the regional economy through sustainable practices and community-led development.
