Jammu, March 20: The Government has shared a detailed status report on irrigation schemes, tube wells, and lift irrigation projects in Reasi constituency, in response to an unstarred question raised by Hon’ble MLA Kuldeep Raj Dubey during the ongoing Assembly session.
According to the official reply tabled by the Minister In-Charge of the Jal Shakti Department, a total of 28 irrigation schemes are operational in Reasi. Out of these, 20 are fully functional, 4 are non-functional, while another 4 are partially functional.
The Government further informed that no tube wells are functional or under execution in the constituency at present. With regard to lift irrigation projects, two schemes have been identified, although specific technical details were marked as “XX,” indicating that further information may be provided in subsequent communications.
In terms of traditional irrigation systems, the reply highlighted that one khul (traditional water channel) has been renovated under the Union Territory Capex, while another is currently under execution through the District Capex.
A detailed list of all schemes—both executed and under execution—has also been appended as Annexure “A” to the Assembly reply.
The update comes amid increasing concerns about irrigation infrastructure and water resource management in the hilly terrain of Reasi.
