Srinagar, Aug 29:  In a bid to ensure efficient governance and address the concerns of citizens, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted an interactive session called “LG’s Mulaqaat.” The program, aimed at resolving public grievances, involved a video conference with citizens, which took place at the Civil Secretariat.
During the session, Lieutenant Governor Sinha called for action reports from Deputy Commissioners and Heads of Departments regarding the pending grievances raised in previous LG’s Mulaqaat programs. It was revealed that a total of 355 cases had been successfully resolved.
Expressing the administration’s commitment to enhancing good governance, Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized the importance of reaching the most vulnerable sections of society and promptly addressing their grievances. He stated that effective grievance management plays a pivotal role in fostering social change and economic growth. He applauded the collaborative efforts of stakeholders that have facilitated public participation in project planning and execution.
Responding to specific grievances raised during the session, Lieutenant Governor Sinha issued directives for immediate actions. For instance, in response to a complaint about encroachment on a local waterway, he ordered the District and Police Administration to take necessary steps to remove the encroachment and initiate legal action against the encroacher.
In another instance, Lieutenant Governor Sinha took note of a complaint regarding excessive admission fees charged by a private school. He instructed the Director of School Education to address the issue, ensure the child’s admission, and take appropriate action against the school.
Water supply concerns were also addressed during the session. Lieutenant Governor Sinha was briefed by officials from Budgam and Jammu regarding upcoming schemes under the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aim to address water supply needs in various areas.
Addressing social welfare issues, Lieutenant Governor Sinha emphasized the timely disbursement of government schemes, including old-age pensions. He directed officials to expedite the process of pension and scholarship applications, emphasizing the need for robust implementation to benefit eligible recipients. He urged Deputy Commissioners to facilitate prompt renewals and new cases through special camps.
The proceedings of “LG’s Mulaqaat” were conducted by Rehana Batul, Secretary of Public Grievances. The interactive session saw the presence of several high-ranking officials, including Chief Secretary Dr. Arun Kumar Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department R K Goyal, Additional Chief Secretary of the Jal Shakti Department Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor Dr. Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Administrative Secretaries, Divisional Commissioners, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, HoDs, and other senior officers, both in person and virtually.
