Srinagar, June 26 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha conducted a “LG’s Mulaqaat” program, an interactive live public grievance hearing, at the Civil Secretariat, where he engaged with citizens who had filed complaints on JKIGRAMS.
Through video conferencing, the Lt Governor also interacted with concerned Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to assess the progress made on addressing the grievances.
Emphasizing the significance of prompt redressal of grievances and time-bound service delivery, the Lt Governor stated, “The administration represents the aspirations of all citizens and every section of our vibrant society. Time-bound delivery of services, prompt and effective redressal of grievances form the core of administration’s development initiatives.”
The Lt Governor directed the Deputy Commissioners to actively engage with citizens, prioritize the concerns of the underprivileged, and ensure transparent resolution of all issues. He further encouraged residents to participate in the maintenance of parks and public properties, emphasizing that community involvement would play a vital role in enhancing cleanliness and the overall quality of public spaces.
Expressing concern over fake complaints on JKIGRAMS, the Lt Governor urged officials to put an end to this practice. He highlighted that the platform aims to provide hassle-free public services and identify any shortcomings, thereby achieving people-centric governance. Sensitizing and motivating individuals to submit genuine grievances through public outreach programs was emphasized as a means to achieve more transparent, accountable, and citizen-friendly governance.
During the interaction, the Lt Governor addressed specific complaints raised by citizens. In response to a complaint from Mohd Afzal Bhat of Bandipora regarding a dysfunctional well in Odina Sonawari, the Lt Governor directed the Chief Engineer to make alternative arrangements for sufficient water supply until the well is functional again. The issue of an incomplete building at the Government Girls School Dab Ganderbal was also discussed, with the Deputy Commissioner assuring the availability of sanitation facilities and installation of fences after the school’s relocation.
Another complaint regarding the reinstallation of hand pumps in the Bhagwati Nagar area was brought to the Lt Governor’s attention by Somraj from Jammu. The Lt Governor instructed the Deputy Commissioner to take immediate measures to resolve the issue. Regarding a complaint about the dilapidated condition of the road in Kangra Galhuta Mendhar, raised by Irfan Ali from Poonch, the Principal Secretary of Public Works (R&B) informed the Lt Governor that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared, and work will commence once official procedures are completed.
Following the grievance hearing, the Lt Governor chaired a meeting to review the preparations made by District Administrations for the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha festival and the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra. The Lt Governor stressed the need for a comprehensive traffic plan, particularly in Ramban, Anantnag, and Udhampur, to ensure smooth traffic movement during the yatra. Deputy Commissioner Ramban and SSP Ramban provided updates on critical stretches and identified contingency routes to divert traffic, while the IGP Traffic reported progress in identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
The proceedings of the LG’s Mulaqaat were conducted by Ms. Rehana Batul, Commissioner/Secretary of Public Grievances. The interaction was attended by officials, including Sh.
