Inaugurates ‘New Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre’ at JU
New facility to boost teacher training & NEP goals
Jammu, Aug 11: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the new building of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Centre (MMTTC) at the University of Jammu today.
The new facility is set to enhance teacher training and foster innovative teaching methods in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP).
Addressing the gathering, LG Sinha highlighted the importance of this development: “The facility will boost the capacity and training of teachers, supporting the goals of NEP by developing innovative teaching methods.”
He emphasized the need for continuous professional development and leadership skills for faculty members, stating, “In the dynamic environment of higher education, building faculty capacity is crucial. Leadership skills and professional development will be key for holistic, multidisciplinary education integrated with Indian knowledge systems.”
The Lt Governor paid tribute to Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya, noting his significant contributions to India’s education system. He praised the Malaviya Mission’s focus on NEP 2020 recommendations, quality teaching, online education, technology use, and the promotion of Indian languages and vocational education.
Sinha encouraged higher educational institutions to enhance the quality of education through innovative teaching methods and continuous professional development. “We must ensure quality and excellence in teaching and build leadership skills among teachers,” he added.
He commended the University of Jammu for its innovative educational programs and focus on critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration in line with NEP 2020 recommendations.
Present at the inauguration were Prof. Umesh Rai, Vice Chancellor of the University of Jammu; Prof. Meena Sharma, Dean Planning and Development; Prof. Sundeep Pandita, Director of MMTTC; and other senior officials including Anand Jain, ADGP Jammu, and Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu.
