Leaders of Road Transport Awards celebrates excellence in transport, logistics sector

Srinagar, Aug 20: The Leaders of Road Transport Awards, a prestigious event organised by TV9 Network in collaboration with Continental Tyres, recognised the outstanding achievements of individuals and organizations in the transport and logistics industry. The awards aim to inspire innovation, safety, and sustainability within the sector.
The event was graced by the Minister of State for Road Transport and Highways, Harsh Malhotra, who attended as the Chief Guest.
In the Goods Transportation category, Dr Anand Sankeshwar, Managing Director of VRL Logistics Limited, was honoured as the Business Person of the Year. His exceptional leadership in guiding VRL Logistics, which began as a single truck operation in 1976 and has grown to become India’s largest fleet owner with over 6,100 vehicles, was celebrated.
Dr Sankeshwar expressed his gratitude to the employees of the VRL Group and reflected on the company’s humble beginnings, initiated by his father, Padmashri awardee Dr Vijay Sankeshwar. His recognition received a standing ovation from the audience.
Vijayanand Travels Private Limited (VTPL), led by Mr Shiva Sankeshwar, was recognised as the Emerging Brand of the Year in the Bus Operations category. Having separated from VRL Logistics in 2023 to operate as an independent company, VTPL has rapidly expanded its fleet, added new routes, and adopted innovative practices, positioning it for continued success.
The event also celebrated the contributions of several Women Entrepreneurs in the commercial vehicle fleet sector, with recognition given to those managing fleets ranging from 50 to 200 vehicles. This marks a significant development in an industry where female leadership is increasingly making an impact.
Among other distinguished awardees were V-Trans, Gyan Logistics Pvt. Ltd., JKM Transport, HBR Transport and Pankaj Transport.
The Leaders of Road Transport Awards are based purely on merit, without any associated commercial interests, making the recognition even more prestigious.
