In a significant move to curb illegal constructions, the Lakes Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) has initiated a comprehensive identification drive in areas including Chatterham, Khimber, and Syedpora Bala.
On the first day of the drive, 37 illegal ongoing constructions were identified, and notices were served to the violators, directing them to immediately halt construction activities. Further legal action will follow against the offenders.
Additionally, an illegally macadamized area and an approach road near Boulevard were removed during the drive.
The LCMA has urged the general public to refrain from engaging in illegal constructions. Any structure found being illegally raised will be demolished without prior notice. Those intending to undertake construction activities must seek approval through the Online Building Permission System (OBPS) of LCMA.
Furthermore, the Authority has launched a comprehensive drive to identify illegal structures encroaching on water channels. A clearance operation will commence soon in this regard.
