Jammu, July 23: Former international cricketer and current Head Coach of the Jammu and Kashmir Senior Women’s Cricket Team, Latika Kumari Sangwan, has outlined a focused and strategic roadmap to elevate the performance of women cricketers in the Union Territory. Currently supervising the Pre-Season Camp for Senior and U-23 Women’s probables in Jammu, Latika shared key insights during an interview on the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association’s (JKCA) official media platform.As per a statement issued here, Latika praised the JKCA administrators for their unwavering support and infrastructure, stating that the commitment of the Association has created an ideal training atmosphere. “With their commitment and endeavours, JKCA women’s cricket is unquestionably on the rise,” she said. Despite the promising talent within the ranks, Latika emphasized the importance of fine-tuning certain aspects to help J&K women cricketers compete at higher levels. “JKCA women cricketers are immensely talented, yet there are key focus areas that need attention to help them blossom at the national and international levels,” she said.Latika stressed that believing in the training process is essential to achieving international-level outcomes. “Skill alone is not enough. Success lies in commitment to the process,” she stated. “Our players must learn to sustain momentum even after early wickets fall,” she said, underscoring the need to master net run-rate calculations and execution during crunch moment. Latika highlighted that the difference between a good player and a great one often lies in mental toughness. “At higher levels, skill gaps narrow. What sets players apart is their mental strength, temperament and composure,” she said. She also stressed the importance of fostering a positive team atmosphere and building a sense of unity and trust among players. “Creating a cohesive unit is the mantra for success. On their day, J&K’s senior women’s team can beat the best in the country,” she concluded with confidence.
