Srinagar, June 24: Minister of State for External affairs and Culture, Meenakshi Lekhi said on Saturday that district Kupwara in north Kashmir offers immense untapped tourism potential.
During her visit to Kupwara, accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Ayushi Sudan, Lekhi highlighted the district’s natural beauty and the vast opportunities for tourism that have yet to be explored.
Lekhi highlighted the potential for various tourism activities, including exploring the scenic meadows, border tourism, and visiting the border villages. She believed that these attractions could bring about positive change and development in the area. Lekhi also emphasized the broader benefits of tourism, such as creating employment opportunities for local residents.
Lekhi stressed the importance of fully exploring the tourism potential of Kupwara from all angles to unlock opportunities for employment and growth within the local community. She also highlighted the transformative impact that tourism, especially in border areas, could have on the region’s economy.
The Kupwara district boasts several noteworthy tourist spots, including the beautiful Lolab Valley, Bangus Valley, Satbarin Kalaroos, Shahnagri, and Sheikh Baba Behram, Kheer Bhawani Asthapan, Hazrat Mehmood Shah shrine, and Hazrat Zati Shahwali, and Malcha Khan Badshah Shrine.
Minister pointed out that Kupwara has potential for tourism activities in terms of border tourism and its status as an aspiration district. By tapping into this potential, she said the district could experience significant development and growth.
