KU, SKUAST-K organise joint training prog on ‘Supply Chain Management in SMEs’

Srinagar, Feb 23: A week-long collaborative training programme on ‘Supply Chain Management for Increasing Efficiency in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)’ started on Thursday at the University of Kashmir.
The MSME-sponsored E-MDP programme has been organised jointly by the School of Agricultural Economics and Horti-Business Management, Faculty of Horticulture, SKUAST-K in collaboration with NEP Cell, University of Kashmir.
Controller of Examinations KU Dr Majid Zaman was the chief guest at the inaugural session, which was attended by Prof Mushtaq Ahmad Darzi, Director HRDC KU; Prof S H Baba, Head, SAE & HBM, SKUAST-K; Dr Abid Sultan, Training Coordinator, SKUAST-K; Dr Farzana Gulzar, Coordinator NEP Cell; Prof S M Shafi, former HoD Commerce KU; Dr Ravi Kumar, Joint Registrar, Academics KU; Prof Mohammad Ashraf, Consultant, NEP, KU and Dr Sumeer Gul, Coordinator, HRDC.
Dr Farzana Gulzar, host institute coordinator, welcomed the guests and thanked the Director Planning and Monitoring, as well as Organising team from SKUAST-K for the collaborative management programme. She said with NEP laying emphasis on interdisciplinary education, the KU is open to holding more such collaborative programmes in future with SKUAST-K.
Dr Abid Sultan said the programme has been designed to offer an inclusive learning to the participants to develop a comprehensive understanding on supply chain management dynamics, technology development and greening of supply chains.
Prof Darzi appreciated the organises for holding the management development programme on a theme of high importance, remarking that such programmes will lead to creating more efficient solutions to supply chain issues in the agriculture and allied sectors.
In his inaugural address, Prof S H Baba, thanked the KU administration for agreeing to hold the collaborative workshop. He emphasised re-orientation of elements and actors to integrate supply chains for greater price realization in the interest of producers and other functionaries.
In his special address, Dr Majid Zaman said such workshops are the need of the hour, especially to highlight the importance of new technologies like IoT, BlockChain and Artificial Intelligence.
He urged participants to invest their thoughts and time towards developing tech-based supply chain solutions, while highlighting the significance of such collaborative initiatives under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-K Prof Nazir A Ganai and Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof Nilofer Khan.
Student coordinators from SKUAST-K, Irtiqa Malik, Fazal Mohammad Mir, Seerat Hassan Wani, and Insha Haleem coordinated the session, which ended with a vote of thanks by Abdullah Danish, Liaison Officer, KU.
