Srinagar, Feb 12: In order to further push nursing education, the Jammu and Kashmir Health and Medical Education (H&ME) Department has granted extension in seats in favour of five private para-medical institutes in Kashmir division.
The institutes that have been granted extension in the seats include Green Land Paramedical and Nursing Institute Kohimaran Hawal, Guru Institute of Paramedical Sciences Sopore, Al-Noor Paramedical Institute Budshah Nagar, Tahira Khanam’s Para Medical Institute Lawaypora, Srinagar and Royal Institute of Para Medical Sciences Darind, Ganderbal.
The department in an order has granted sanction in favour of Green Land Paramedical & Nusiing Institute Kohimaran, Hawal, Srinagar, for session 2021-22.
For the institute, PMPHW seats have been enhanced from 60 to 85 and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) intake from 25 to 75.
The department has also granted sanction for Guru Institute of Paramedical Sciences, Sopore for enhancement of seats in GNM by merging Medical Assistant, X-Ray Assistant seats into GNM and starting of Additional Diploma Course of Dialysis Assistant.
As per the order, the GNM seats have been extended from 50 to 85 by merging 15 seats from X-ray and 20 seats to Medical Assistant.
The department has also sanctioned permission in favour of Al-Noor Paramedical Institute, Budshah Nagar, Srinagar, for starting GNM course and cancelled the Medical Assistant course and merged it with GNM course.
For Tahira Khanam’s Para Medical Institute, Lawaypora, the department has sanctioned permission for the enhancement of seats and additional course of Anesthesia Assistant.
For Tahira Khanam’s Para Medical Institute, the GNM seats have been enhanced from 90 to 140 and Operation Theatre Technology seats from 50 to 75. The additional course of Anesthesia Assistant will now be having 30 seats, as per the details of the health department.
For the Royal Institute of Para Medical Sciences, the health department has granted extension in GNM seats from 45 to 90 seats.
The approval for all the institutes is subject to the fulfillment of provisions laid down in the J&K Paramedical Council, Act, 2014.
As per the order, the J&K Paramedical Council shall conduct inspection of the institutes periodically, to monitor and assess the adequacy of infrastructure in relation to the number of trainees.
The J&K Paramedical Council shall conduct the examination of the trainees on the pattern of trainees of AMT/ANMT Schools across J&K.
