Srinagar, Oct 31: For the first time, a bikers club named ‘Biker from Kashmir Club’ organized a first of its kind ‘Dirt Bike race’ in the city outskirts in which more than eighty bikers participated, said the organizer of the event.
PeerzadaAqibNazar told Rising Kashmir that the event was the first of its kind in the valley and that they received positive response despite conducting the event on shorter notice.
“More than 80 riders participated in the Dirt trail, and it was a self-made 500-600 M dirt track and competition was held under four categories in which the first three winners of each category were awarded riding gears and participation certificates,” he said.
Nazar said the event was a challenge for them as they had to arrange the track for the Dirt Trail and eventually had to conduct the event on a privately owned property and had to prepare the track of their own without any support from anyone.
Nazar said that he is a professional rider with a coverage of around 10,000KMs of travel distance from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on the bike.
“In 2021 I started this rider club under the name of ‘Biker from Kashmir’, and currently more than 80 riders are registered with my club which includes female riders as well. Any event within the club is purely based on social issues arising in society, be it drug awareness or adherence to traffic rules,” he said.
Nazar further said, “Bike riding has been stigmatized as a highly low act in society, but for me, it is a sport, and I believe that in the future times we will push this biking sport to a level where it will become a source of revenue for those who are passionate about this adventurous sport.”
FaheemRafiqi, from North Kashmir’s Bandipora district, a rider since 2014 told Rising Kashmir that for him it was not less than a dream coming true as we for the first time witnessed a platform where passionate riders can participate in an event.
“As many bikers participated in the event, though all were not experts there, however participation was important as that shows their passion and commitment towards the biking sport. For me it is even learning for me even from a non-professional and this is what I believe and I think events like these should be conducted every month,” he said.
Nazar said that the purpose of the event was to encourage the youth to get attracted towards the biking sport, however, he said that those indulging in the stunts are not the riders as that needs to be done under expert supervision on a dedicated track with all safety gears.
“I don’t consider a two-wheeler rider who is into stunts as a rider, as both stand array, however doing stunts is an art which should be under proper supervision and under the guidance of experts on a proper track with all safety gears. I am looking forward to establishing a club where stunt lovers can showcase their sport,” he said.
