Ganderbal: Kashmir Law Circles organised a day-long Awareness Programme on Drug Abuse Prevention’. KLC in association with Qamaria Model Higher Secondary school,organised seminar at Qamaria Higher Secondary School Ganderbal.
Representing the organisation, Nadia Rashid,Gen. Secretary KLC, said that the issue of drug addiction is a challenge before every State of the country.
Although, the Union Ministry of Social Justice has special schemes and programmes for the prevention of drug abuse, it is the duty of all stakeholders to join in creating awareness about these schemes and the need to prevent this menace.
She said that substance abuse has affected human rights in every aspect. She particularly lauded the role of youths from Kashmir, who brought laurels to the country through sports and thus reminded youths to emulate their deeds by taking part in sports and other healthy activities.District Police and NGO representatives from Mumbai took the part in this one day seminar.
Speakers,Tauseef,Hilal,Farhat,Bilal Wani and Bilal Bhat focused on that the increasing drug user in the Valley especially among the students, posed a grave danger.
All speakers of Organisation appreciated the initiative in the area of drug abuse prevention by organising such awareness programmes, which will prove to be use in the long run.SHO Police Station Ganderbal also addressed the gathering.
The participants included 250 students from School and different colleges located in Ganderbaland adjoining districts.They were addressed by several resource persons coming from the background of social and medical sciences.
