Srinagar, July 25: Kilo Force showcased Indian Army’s commitment towards its veterans and their families by organising the braveheart families and ex-servicemen rally at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium, Bandipora on Tuesday.
The rally was a huge success and attracted more than 300 ex-servicemen and their dependents from north Kashmir, the Defence PRO said in a statement.
He said that on the occasion of the Kargil Vijay Diwas, this special ex-servicemen rally was conducted to pay tributes to the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the line of duty during the Kargil War of 1999.
Maj Gen Mohit Seth, General Officer Commanding, Kilo Force interacted with the Veer Naris, ex-servicemen and their dependents. The rally lived up to its motto of “Sampark- Swasthya- Sahuliyat” by reaching out to the maximum number of veterans and families of ex-warriors and ameliorating their hardships concerning various issues related to pension, documentation, banking, welfare schemes, medical and Aadhar card, etc.
A number of facilitation stalls were established to cater for various aspects of ex-servicemen viz Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme, Resettlement, Sainik Welfare Boards helpline, Record Offices, State Bank of India, J&K Bank, HDFC Bank and Civil administration. The rally provided a joint forum for the veterans and their families to interact with both military and civil agencies and resolve their long-pending issues.
Speaking on the occasion, the General Officer Commanding pledged Indian Army’s solidarity with its extended family of veterans and their dependents and assured the gathering that the government and Army are sensitive to their needs and would take every step to ensure they are cared for and looked after well. The GOC also reiterated the Army’s goal of providing quality healthcare, dignity and problem resolution to Veer Naris, Veer Matas and Veterans.
“The event was the culmination of a dedicated effort by local Rashtriya Rifles battalion that had extensively interacted with the veterans and prepared an extensive data bank to systematically redress grievances faced by veterans in quick time through multiple agencies during the rally,” the PRO said, adding, “The event was an endeavour on part of the Indian Army to recognise and honour the veterans, fallen heroes and their families for their unflinching loyalty and selfless service to the Nation and the Indian Army for which we will always remain indebted.”
