Gulmarg, Jan 10: In order to provide the basic skiing training to the students of Jammu and Kashmir, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) J&K has initiated a basic skiing course for 50 students from various districts within the Union Territory.
Mohammad Rashid Kohili, Joint Director of the Youth Services and Sports Department, informed Rising Kashmir that a 15-day basic skiing course has commenced for these 50 students at the renowned tourist destination of Gulmarg.
“Throughout this 15-day program, all 50 students from ten different districts of Jammu and Kashmir are participating in this training initiative. The students will receive foundational training in skiing. Upon completion of the course, they will also be awarded a training certificate,” he said.
Kohili said that this is the first batch of male students, and subsequent batches will follow. A second batch comprising 50 female students from various districts of Jammu and Kashmir will also be organized. These training program is set to continue until the end of February.
“The students enrolled in the skiing training courses through the Youth Services Department primarily come from government schools across different districts of the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory. There are no fees associated with this course; all expenses, including accommodation, food, skiing equipment, and transportation, are provided free of charge to all the students,” he added.
