Jammu, Jan 11: The Jammu and Kashmir State Level Coordinating Agency (JKSPYM) organized a three-day Certificate Training Program for GIA Functionaries from January 9 to 11, 2025, focusing on “De-addiction Management and Documentation.”
The training was held at the SLCA Training Hall in Jammu, in collaboration with the National Institute of Social Defence (NISD), under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India.
The program saw participation from 25 delegates representing various regions of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. A team of distinguished resource persons facilitated the training, including Dr Abhishek Chauhan, a Neuropsychiatrist from GMC Jammu; Dr Vinay Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Work at Central University of Jammu; Program Director Pallavi Singh; Virendar Kaur; and the SLCA team.
The inaugural ceremony set the tone for the program, with Pallavi Singh introducing both JKSPYM and SLCA, highlighting the importance and objectives of the training initiative. Dr Abhishek Chauhan led the first session, providing critical insights on “Basic Drug Education.”
The comprehensive curriculum over the three days included a variety of essential topics aimed at equipping participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for effective de-addiction management.
Key sessions covered included a brief description of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, basic drug education, Substance Use Disorder (SUD) principles and approaches, pharmacotherapy in drug addiction, basic counselling skills, key principles in drug addiction treatment, counselling techniques, screening and assessment, introduction and administration of the ASSIST tool and overview of project documentation for DDAC, ODIC, and CPLI.
The program concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony, recognizing the efforts and engagement of participants. The closing remarks were delivered by Pallavi Singh, who expressed gratitude to the resource persons and all participants for their contributions to the training’s success.
