JKCA U-19 Women Practice Matches: Afreen, Rudrakshi, Ananaya, Manya blossom as J&K thrashes Chandigarh

Jammu, Sep 30: A superb batting display by the trio of Afreen, Rudrakshi Chib and Manya Banotra, coupled with splendid bowling display by the duo of Ananaya Sharma and Ananya Dogra powered clinical Jammu and Kashmir to a huge 89-run win over formidable Chandigarh in the third match of the ongoing Practice Match Series, organised by Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) at Hostel Ground, here.
 
After straight losses in the first two matches, J&K eves supported by the management, especially the coaching staff, came back strongly and displayed extraordinary skills to register a big win today.
 
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, J&K scored a good total of 238 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. Afreen (64) and Rudrakshi (55) showed stellar grit and tenacity to notch up magnificent fifties, while Manya Banotra and Shambhavi Rajput contributed valuable 38 and 34 runs to the total respectively. Neemami Slathia and Vishaka Kesar remained unconquered on 10 and one respectively. Afreen took 106 balls and hit 5 boundaries in her innings, while Rudrakshi played 53 balls and smashed 7 fours in her knock.
 
For Chandigarh, Manvi Tomar took 2 wickets, while Jasnoor Kaur and Smayra Thakur claimed one wicket each.
 
In reply, Chandigarh managed to score 149 runs in 50 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process, thus lost the match by a big margin of 89 runs. Ganika Bansal top scored with unbeaten 39 runs, while Sarah Mahajan contributed 29 runs to the total.
 
Skipper Ananaya Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief for J&K, who took 3 important wickets by conceding 18 runs in her 10 overs, while Ananya Dogra bagged 2 wickets by giving away 32 runs in 8 overs. Rudrakshi Chib, Sania Salathia and Manya Banotra also claimed one wicket each.
Despite brilliant show with bat and ball, the fielding of J&K players was very poor rather pathetic.
The match was officiated by Deepak Gupta and Manish Sharma as umpires, while Ashwani Sharma was the scorer.
J&K team is being accompanied by Ravi Dogra and Neha Slathia as Managers, Huwaid Hamid and Jyoti Bala as Coaches, besides Rohit Rana as Trainer, Sheikh Suhail as Video Analyst and Bisma Gulzar as Physiotherapist.
CAC Member Roopali Slathia and U-19 Women Selectors– Pratibha Bhasin, Payal Choudhary and Madhu Sharma also observed the performance of the players.
