J&K political leaders condole demise of Dr Sibtain Masoodi

Express condolence with Mirwaiz Umar Farooq; Dr Farooq, others attend funeral prayers

Srinagar, Feb 27: Political leaders across Jammu and Kashmir have expressed condolence over the demise of Dr Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi, father-in-law of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, with tributes pouring in for his contributions to society. A large number of people from various walks of life, including prominent political leaders, attended his funeral prayers at Masjid Wazir Mohammad Khan in Baghat Barzulla.
Dr Masoodi, who passed away late last night after a prolonged illness, was laid to rest at the ancestral graveyard of the Masoodi family in Khrew, Pulwama.
National Conference (NC) President Dr Farooq Abdullah, Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi, and Tanvir Sadiq, participated in the funeral prayers, expressing their sympathies with the bereaved family.
Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, expressed his condolences on social media. In a post on X, he wrote: “Inna Lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji’un. Sorry to hear about the demise of Dr Sibtain Masoodi Sb, father-in-law of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. May Allah grant him the highest place in Jannat. My condolences to the Mirwaiz and his loved ones.”
According to Mirwaiz Manzil, Dr Masoodi’s Nimaz-e-Janaza was initially scheduled to be held at Jama Masjid Srinagar after Zuhr prayers but was later conducted at Masjid Wazir Mohammad Khan in Bagat Barzulla. The bereaved family will receive condolences (Taziyat) at House No. 207, Sector B, Westend Colony, near Tengpora Bridge, Hyderpora, Srinagar.
Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Advocate Abdul Rahim Rather in his condolence message expressed deep sympathies with the MLA. He prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul and forbearance for the family to bear this irreparable loss.
Former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti also condoled the demise, posting on X: “Deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Mirwaiz Sahab’s father-in-law, Dr Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi Sahab. Condolences to the bereaved family at this difficult hour.”
Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Lone expressed his sympathies, saying: “Heartfelt condolences to @MirwaizKashmir on the demise of his father-in-law. May Allah grant him Jannat.”
Apni Party President Altaf Bukhari also expressed his sympathies, stating: “My heartfelt condolences to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Sahib on the passing of his father-in-law, Dr Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi, who departed for his heavenly abode late last night. Inna Lillahi Wa Inna Ilayhi Rajioon. May the Almighty grant him the highest place in Jannah and give patience to the bereaved family.”
Former Minister and National Conference leader Ali Mohammad Sagar shared his condolences, posting on X: “Inna Lillahi wa Inna ilayhi raji’un. I extend my heartfelt condolences to @MirwaizKashmir Moulvi Muhammad Farooq Sahab over the passing of his father-in-law and my valued colleague in JKNC, Justice @masoodi_hasnain. Prayers for the maghfirah of late Sibtain Masoodi Sahib. May Allah grant Jannat-ul-Firdous to the departed.”
NC leader Nasir Aaslam Wani also expressed grief, stating: “His contributions will always be remembered. I pray for Jannat-ul-Firdous for the departed soul and strength for the bereaved family members, especially Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and MLA Pampore, Hasnain Masoodi Sahib, during this difficult time.”
Youth PDP also mourned the loss, stating in a social media post: “We extend our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr Ghulam Sibtain Masoodi Sb, father-in-law of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Sb and brother of Justice (R) Hasnain Masoodi Sb. May Allah grant him Jannat-ul-Firdous & give strength to the bereaved family in this difficult time.”
President of Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) and former Minister Hakeem Muhammad Yaseen also expressed grief, stating: “I extend my deepest sympathies to Hasnain Masoodi and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on this loss. May the departed soul rest in eternal peace, and may Allah grant patience to the bereaved family.”
National Conference Member of Parliament, Mian Altaf Ahmed in his condolence message, said: “I extend my heartfelt condolences and express my deepest sympathies to Mirwaiz Umar Farooq over the tragic passing of his father-in-law and brother of JKNC leader Justice Hasnain Masoodi. May Almighty Allah grant him the highest place in Jannah and give patience to the bereaved families to bear the pain of this profound loss.”
Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo in her condolence message conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. She prayed for peace for the departed soul and forbearance for the family to bear this irreparable loss.
