Srinagar, June 07: The government has introduced a directive under the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax Act, which makes it mandatory for manufacturers to disclose details of their packing machinery.
As per the official communication under Section 148 of the Jammu and Kashmir Goods and Services Tax (GST) Act, 2017, the directive has been introduced to streamline the compliance procedures for registered manufacturers in the Union Territory.
It said that under the new regulations, all registered manufacturers must submit detailed information about their packing machines electronically via FORM GST SRM-I on the common portal within thirty days of the notification’s enactment. New manufacturers registered post-communique are required to provide these details within fifteen days of receiving their registration, it added.
The official communication mandates immediate updates on any additional packing machines installed. Manufacturers must report these updates within twenty-four hours in the specified section of FORM GST SRM-I. Similarly, any changes in the declared capacity of the machines must be updated promptly within the same timeframe, it added.
The communication further said that each machine registered under these new rules will be assigned a unique registration number to enhance tracking and compliance and manufacturers who have previously declared their production capacities to other government departments or agencies must report this information within fifteen days, or within thirty days if declared before this communication.
The disposal of any existing packing machines must be reported within twenty-four hours on the common portal. Manufacturers are also required to submit a special monthly statement by the tenth day of each subsequent month to ensure continuous compliance and transparency.
To validate the accuracy of the information provided, manufacturers must upload a Chartered Engineer’s certificate for the declared machines as per the guidelines. They have been urged to adhere to these new requirements promptly to avoid penalties and ensure smooth operational continuity.
