Srinagar, May 01 :In the wake of looming flood threats triggered by relentless downpours in Jammu and Kashmir, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha lauded the proactive efforts of officials and security forces, emphasizing the collaboration between the administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and other security agencies. He remarked, “The administration demonstrated remarkable preparedness to address the imminent threat.”
Chief Secretary and officials, working alongside District Commissioners (DCs), maintained vigilance to ensure comprehensive precautions, prioritizing the safeguarding of lives and property. Sinha stated, “Their collective efforts yielded positive results as water levels receded in major water bodies, including the Jhelum River, averting the looming flood crisis.”
Residents, grappling with fear amidst incessant rains, found solace in the swift action undertaken by the administration. Sinha noted, “The administration’s swift action garnered widespread praise.”
Round-the-clock functioning of Control Rooms in every district ensured effective monitoring and response, with senior officers and field staff deployed for swift restoration of essential services. “We ensured prompt action,” Sinha reiterated.
District Commissioners, stationed at critical points such as the Zero Bridge in Srinagar, coordinated response efforts to ensure residents’ safety. “Immediate attention was crucial,” emphasized Sinha.
Precautionary measures, including need-based evacuations and activation of safe shelter centers, were implemented to accommodate affected families. “We underscored our commitment to citizen safety,” Sinha affirmed.
The proactive stance, coupled with efficient coordination and timely interventions, averted a potential disaster, highlighting the administration’s unwavering commitment to protecting residents’ well-being. “Our commitment remains steadfast,” stated Sinha.
