Srinagar, Aug 14: Minister for Agriculture Production Department, Rural Development Department, and Panchayati Raj, Javid Ahmad Dar, today attended a virtual meeting with the Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan.According to a statement issued here, the meeting focused on crucial agricultural issues, including fertilizer availability, crop loss or damage and initiatives like Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan and National Mission of Natural Farming.The Union Minister emphasised the importance of providing fertilizers to farmers in a timely manner, ensuring they don’t suffer due to market shortages. Strict action will be taken against those involved in black marketing of fertilizers, seeds and pesticides, he added.He urged the Principal Secretaries to motivate the farmers to adopt natural/organic farming practices. He also directed for collecting accurate data on crop damage through proper surveys to ensure timely compensation for farmers.The Union Minister stressed that the approved fertilizer list will be published to inform the farmers about the substandard fertilizers.
