Budgam, Feb 05: The irrigation sub-division of Budgam has successfully reclaimed the irrigation canal located at Dafapora Nasrullahpora in the Budgam district, eliminating all illegal encroachments along the canal.
Asima Jan, Assistant Executive Engineer of the irrigation sub-division Budgam informed Rising Kashmir that the irrigation canal, which had been unlawfully occupied, has now been restored by the irrigation department.
“A special drive was undertaken to remove all trees that had been unlawfully planted by the people. All illegal encroachments have been cleared, allowing for the successful retrieval of the canal through this drive ,” she said
Asima said that this canal will provide essential irrigation services to agricultural lands that had previously relied on it for water supply.
“The width of the canal on both sides measures 11 feet and has been fully restored. We have also initiated various efforts to address other irrigation canals that were illegally occupied. These drives have been conducted successfully, and the people has been cooperative in ensuring the success of these efforts,” she added.
