Anantnag, July 09: A village in Anantnag district is gearing up for an exceptional event as the Intra Dialgam Cricket Tournament is set to kick-start from July, 15 2023, combining the spirit of cricket with a strong message against drug abuse. Organized by a team of dedicated individuals, the tournament aims to raise awareness about the drug menace while promoting a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Led by Zubair Bashir, a renowned scholar in sports, and Sheikh Basit Saleem, a national curling player and law student, the organizers have brought together professionals from various fields, including Mir Waseem Hassan, a law officer at JK Bank, Dr. Rashid Rasheed, a doctor, Sheikh Mudasir Amin, a communications officer at the Government of India, and Haamid Bashir, a social activist.
Mir Waseem Hassan emphasized that cricket, known for its fair play and camaraderie, has become a powerful tool in the village’s fight against drug abuse. The tournament serves as a platform for residents of all ages to unite and participate in a positive activity that promotes physical fitness and mental well-being.
By incorporating the anti-drug message into the cricket tournament, the organizers aim to educate participants and spectators about the detrimental effects of substance abuse. The initiative seeks to empower individuals to make informed decisions and resist the allure of drugs, ultimately fostering a safer and more vibrant community.
Zubair Ahmad, the chief organizer, highlighted that the tournament not only emphasizes the importance of a drug-free lifestyle but also promotes positive values such as sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline. The event serves as a testament to the village community’s commitment to creating a nurturing environment that supports the well-being of its residents.
With anticipation building, the village prepares for an exciting series of matches that are expected to leave a lasting impact in the fight against drugs. The Intra Dialgam Cricket Tournament stands as a shining example of how sports can play a vital role in addressing social issues and transforming communities for the better.
As the tournament draws nearer, residents and cricket enthusiasts eagerly await the event’s commencement, hopeful that it will inspire a positive change and reinforce the importance of a drug-free lifestyle in their community.
