Inter-Zonal U-17 Cricket Tournament: Faizan, Prabdeep, Ruhaan, Smagey sparkle as semis lineup drawn

Jammu, Aug 22: Good show with the willow by Mohd Faizan, Prabdeep Singh and Ruhaan Raj Kalra powered Gandhi Nagar Zone to a convincing victory over Dansal Zone to seal berth in the semifinals of the ongoing Jammu District Inter-Zonal U-17 Cricket Tournament, being organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, District Jammu at Khel Gaon, here on Thursday.
With Gandhi Nagar Zone’s entry in the last four stage, the semifinals position has been cleared in this tournament.
Now, in the semifinals, Jammu Zone will lock horns with Jourian, while Gandhi Nagar will take on Marh Zone at the same venue tomorrow.
Earlier, Gandhi Nagar Zone thrashed Dansal in an easy contest by a big margin of 75 runs.
Batting first, Gandhi Nagar Zone scored a good total of 150 runs in the stipulated 15 overs.
Mohd Faizan top scored with brisk 40 runs off 25 balls, while Prabdeep Singh contributed quick-fire 30 runs off 15 balls. However, Ruhaan Raj Kalra, coming in at number-3 showed sublimity, solidity and elegance to keep one end intact and score unbeaten 26 off 36 balls.
For Dansal Zone, Saksham took 2 wickets by conceding 24 runs in his 2 overs.
In reply, Dansal Zone managed to score 75 runs to lose the match by a big margin of 75 runs. Smagey Khajuria salvaged a lone battle and top scored with 30 runs.
For Gandhi Nagar Zone, Rajveer was the most successful bowler who took 2 wickets by conceding 24 runs in his 3 overs.
In another match, Marh Zone got the better of Khour Zone in a one-sided affair.
Batting first, Khour Zone scored a paltry total of 60 runs, while in reply, Marh Zone chased the target in just 7 overs. Extras played a major role in this match.
