Inter-College Table Men’s Tennis Tournament Concludes With Enthusiasm at KU

Srinagar, May 02: The annual Inter-College Table Tennis Men’s Tournament Friday concluded successfully here at the University of Kashmir (KU) amid great enthusiasm.
The tournament was organized by the varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPE&S), as part of its annual sports calendar. Islamia College of Science and Commerce, Srinagar, lifted the trophy after an impressive final performance (3-0). The tournament, held over three days, witnessed participation from 16 affiliated colleges across Kashmir, bringing together over 100 talented paddlers who displayed remarkable skill, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the competition.
In grand finale, Islamia College Srinagar defeated GDC Anantnag with 3-0 to clinch the title. The third-place match (bronze) was played between GDC Uri and GDC Baramulla, wherein GDC Baramulla emerged victorious in a tough contest 2-1. Speaking at the closing ceremony, Dr. Surjeet Singh, Coordinator, DPE&S KU, congratulated the winners and runners-up teams and emphasised the Directorate’s continuous efforts to enhance the competitiveness and excitement of these tournaments by ensuring the involvement of all affiliated colleges. Dr. Basharat Ali, Assistant Director DPE&S KU, commended all participants and reaffirmed the Directorate’s commitment to ensure active participation in sports through a well-structured calendar of inter-college tournaments.
The prize distribution ceremony was held in TT hall DPE&S KU, which was attended by coaches and ministerial staff of DPE&S, where Dr. Surjeet Singh awarded medals and certificates to the winner and runner-up teams. Tausif Bhat, Assistant Director DPE&S KU, conducted proceedings of concluding ceremony. The women’s tournament of DPE&S is scheduled to commence from May 5.
