Srinagar, Oct 01: The first multiplex cinema was thrown open to the public on Saturday, and around 200 people enjoyed the first show on the big screen.
The South Indian film Ponniyin Selvan 1 (PS1) and the Hindi film Vikram Vedha, starring Hritik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan, were screened on an opening day. The cost of a ticket is between Rs 200 and Rs 500.
The INOX cinema was officially inaugurated by the Lieutenant Governor, Monoj, on September 20 last month in the presence of large gathering.
The owner of the INOX cinema told Rising Kashmir that the people’s response was impressive and that 175 people witnessed the first show.
The owner said, “Modern technology has been installed at the multiplex, according to Dhar’s son, Vikas Dhar, and the newest Bollywood, Hollywood, and South Kashmir films will be exhibited there on the day of their release across the nation.”
“This is a tremendous dream that has come true for us. This choice was made out of pure emotion, and I am speechless in the face of Kashmir’s first multiplex’s opening day excitement, according to Vikas Dhar, who also runs one of the city’s most prestigious schools with his father and brother.
The people at the INOX said that they had enjoyed the movie, adding that it gives solace. Also urged others to come and enjoy the movie.
They said that although Kashmiri people don’t have the environment to go and watch movies in cinemas, they said watching movies on the big screen gives a different experience.

Meanwhile, at the inaugural function of the cinema on September 20, LG said that every district will have a 100-seat cinema. The LG then said, “Cinema is a powerful creative medium that reflects societal values and change. It brings people together. Apart from entertainment, the cinema gives hope, dreams, and inspiration to young people to pursue their dreams till they realise them. “
