Kulgam, Aug 03: The inflation is touching new heights and the current regime has only made promises which proved hoaxes for the people of J&K and Ladakh, Communist Party of India leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said on Saturday.
Addressing the media persons after the conclusion of the party convention in Laroo Kulgam, Tarigami said, “The current situation is quite unsatisfactory for Kashmiri people as a whole and Jammu too. Similarly, Leh and Kargil are no better, and all are unhappy with the hoax promises from BJP. The inflation has touched new heights and there is no relief for people.”
The CPI(M) leader added, “Many are still in jails not just from Kulgam but other areas as well, and the normalcy claims from the government are what they call – which is a graveyard of peace and silence. Kashmir, Jammu, and Ladakh don’t need this graveyard peace. CPI(M) believes in a lively and safe environment which is satisfactory and relevant only with active people’s participation.”
On the recent budget, he said, “There was nothing for J&K. Anything for apples? Anything for employment issues?” he questioned.
As far as elections are concerned, Tarigami said, “Maybe the Election Commission is visiting J&K and maybe elections will be conducted. But, beforehand, the MHA has made amendments to the rules that the cabinet’s powers have been completely diminished and there has been interference. The LG has been empowered in those matters as well which otherwise fall in the ambit of cabinet and assembly legislation. What will be the honour of this cabinet, assembly; all political parties must think on it.”
In response to a question about whether the People’s Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) has lost the “fight”, he said, “This is the collective loss of Kashmir. Jammu, though once not on the same page about the August 5th fight, is today on the same page, believing that the decision has put them at a loss, and the same with Ladakh, which too is at a loss. PAGD would have accepted the defeat had the people benefited post-August 5th or had the rights of people been restored.”
Tarigami added, “We have told the parliament members from Kashmir and those from left parties or Rajya Sabha members including from J&K to highlight the injustice and issues on August 05 in parliament.”
