Srinagar, Apr 28: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah on Monday said India will give a strong and appropriate response to Pakistan for the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that killed 26 people.
Speaking to reporters outside the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly complex, Abdullah said Pakistan must abandon the wrong belief that J&K will become its part through acts of terrorism.
“I have always supported dialogue and wanted talks with Pakistan, but what can we say to the families who lost their loved ones in this attack? Would that be justice?” the former chief minister asked.
Abdullah made these remarks when asked about the calls for dialogue with Pakistan instead of confrontation. He was attending a special one-day Assembly session where a resolution was passed to condemn the April 22 terror attack at the Baisaran meadow in south Kashmir’s Pahalgam.
The NC chief said India does not want a response similar to the 2019 Balakot strike but seeks an even stronger action that would ensure such incidents never happen again in Jammu and Kashmir.
Expressing grief over the loss of lives, Abdullah said, “We are deeply hurt by the deaths caused by this terror attack. It is unfortunate that our neighbour, Pakistan, still refuses to realise that such acts are crimes against humanity. If they believe we will join them through these tactics, they are completely mistaken.”
