Kulgam, Apr 19: Authorities on Tuesday night rescued nomadic families and their livestock in the Chamgund area on the bank of River Veshow here in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
An official said, after receiving inputs about nomadic families stuck in the Chamgund area following the inclement weather, they formed a team and reached out to the families.
The rescue teams comprising District Administration, Police, SDRF, and local Sarpanch reached out to the families and shifted them to a safer place.
“The nomadic families along with livestock were shifted from the river bank to the Govt School. They were provided with all essentials,” he said.
The rescued families have expressed their gratitude to the authorities for shifting them to a safer place.
Meanwhile, the Kulgam administration has established a District level Control Room in view of incessant rain.
“In view of the incessant rainfall from last couple of days and prediction of more rains, Tehsildars/Naib Tehsildars and District officers connected with execution of District Disaster Management Plan (DDMP) are hereby enjoined upon to maintain their headquarters,” reads an official order.
