Srinagar, Apr 05: In preparation for an upcoming VVIP visit to Jammu and Kashmir, IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi chaired a joint security meeting at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Srinagar. The meeting was attended by senior officials from multiple security forces, including the Police, Army, BSF, CRPF, ITBP, and intelligence agencies.
The meeting saw top security officers, both in person and virtually. Among present included the IG BSF, IG CRPF (KOS), IG CRPF Srinagar, DIG CKR Srinagar, DIG ITBP, SSP PCR Kashmir, SSP Srinagar, SSP Budgam, Col GS (IS) 15 Corps, SSP Traffic Rural, SSP Traffic City Srinagar, SSP Security Kashmir, SP CIK CID, SP APCR Kashmir, SP PC Srinagar, and SP Telecommunication. The DIGs of NKR and SKR, along with all other SSsP of Kashmir Zone, also participated virtually.
During the meeting, officials presented a comprehensive set of security measures to ensure the safety of the VVIP during the visit. IGP Kashmir emphasised the need for heightened alertness to address potential terrorist threats. He stressed the importance of bolstering intelligence gathering operations, increasing security at vulnerable locations, and maintaining effective area and night domination.
The meeting placed particular emphasis on securing critical infrastructure and other vulnerable areas in the region. Specific measures were discussed to protect vital assets and ensure public safety. Additionally, the deployment of Counter Intelligence Quick Response Teams (CI QRTs) was considered to ensure rapid responses to emerging threats.
IGP Birdi issued directives to reinforce security in both urban and rural parts of the Kashmir Valley. This included the implementation of round-the-clock patrolling and an enhanced presence at key entry and exit points. He also highlighted the importance of briefing personnel on standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure swift and coordinated action in case of suspicious activities.
IGP Kashmir, in his closing remarks, reiterated the collective responsibility of all security forces to maintain a safe and secure environment. He stressed that the primary goal was to ensure the safety of the VVIP, as well as the residents and visitors in the region. The comprehensive security plan is aimed at providing maximum protection during the high-profile visit, with a firm focus on preventing any security threats and maintaining public peace across the Valley.
