Srinagar, Mar 19: The study centre of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) at GDC Magam has announced the commencement of an extensive awareness programme and counselling sessions aimed at guiding prospective students towards the diverse range of courses offered by the institution.
With a commitment to promoting academic excellence and empowering students to make informed decisions about their educational journey, IGNOU has developed these initiatives to provide comprehensive guidance and support. The programme was held in the Auditorium of Government Degree College Magam.
At the outset, Dr Mohd Hussain Dar, the IGNOU coordinator, extended a warm welcome to the guests and emphasized the significance of the programme. The event was attended by members of the Civil Society, Principals from various Government and Private Higher Secondary Schools in the locality, IGNOU Counsellors, college faculty, and students.
The presiding officer for the event was Vice Principal of the College, Prof (Dr) Shabana Ali.
Dr Syed Afrooz Razvi, in his speech, underscored the relevance of IGNOU study material for competitive exams and encouraged students to explore various learning opportunities.
Dr Shahnawaz Ahmad Dar, Regional Director of IGNOU Regional Center Srinagar, highlighted the importance of new initiatives such as pre-admission counselling and dual degree courses. He addressed the queries of enthusiastic participants, providing satisfactory answers and clarifications.
In addition to the awareness programme, personalized counselling sessions were conducted to offer individualized guidance to students seeking clarity on their educational and career goals. Experienced academic advisors and career counsellors were present at the event to provide assistance.
The entire programme was hosted by Prof Bashir Ahmad Gamgeen, with a vote of thanks presented by Dr Syed Umer Latief.
