Srinagar, July 13: The spirit of martial arts, discipline and youth empowerment came alive at the 5th District Level Pencak Silat Championship 2025–2026, held at Salsabeel Educational Institute, Safapora, Ganderbal. Organized by the Pencak Silat Association Ganderbal under the aegis of the J&K Pencak Silat Association, in collaboration with the J&K Sports Council, the two-day championship marked a resounding success.A statement issued here said that over 200 enthusiastic young athletes—both boys and girls representing various schools and clubs across the district—participated in multiple weight categories. Their spirited performances turned the arena into a celebration of strength, discipline and dedication. These young warriors not only showcased their fighting skills but also embodied the core values of respect, perseverance and sportsmanship that define Pencak Silat. The championship was officially inaugurated on July 13 by Mohammed Iqbal, District Manager of the J&K Sports Council. The Chairman of Salsabeel Educational Institute, serving as Guest of Honour, lauded the efforts of the association in channelling the energy of the youth towards a disciplined and meaningful path through martial arts. The event culminated on July 14 with a grand closing ceremony. The Chief Guest, Dr. Bilal Nasir, Principal of the host institution, was joined by dignitaries including Sajid Sofi (President, Pencak Silat Association Ganderbal), Nisar Ahmad, Rafiq Ahmad, and Rayees, Coach of the J&K Police Team. All appreciated the extraordinary performances and dedication of the participants. The Pencak Silat Association Ganderbal extends sincere gratitude to all schools, clubs, coaches, and athletes for their enthusiastic participation. A special thanks is also due to the guests and the J&K Sports Council for their invaluable support. This championship was not just a competition—it was a powerful movement that inspired, uplifted, and unified the youth of Ganderbal. As the mats are rolled up and the cheers fade, one message remains loud and clear—the future of Pencak Silat in Ganderbal is bright, bold and unstoppable.
