Ganderbal, Sept 30: Hundreds of dead fish were found floating in the Sindh River, officials said on Monday.
According to preliminary reports, unidentified individuals intentionally introduced a toxic-like substance into the pristine waters of the Sindh River. This malicious act led to the mass mortality of the trout fish population, leaving environmentalists and local residents in dismay.
Authorities were quick to respond to the crisis. The Department of Fisheries, led by Assistant Director Salman Rauf in Ganderbal, immediately dispatched teams to the scene to assess the extent of the damage and initiate an investigation into the incident.
Talking to Rising Kashmir Assistant Director Fisheries Ganderbal Dr Salman assured that all necessary legal actions would be taken against those found responsible for this ecologically disastrous act.
Local residents and environmental activists have expressed their outrage over the incident, emphasizing the need for stringent measures to protect the region’s fragile ecosystems.
