Srinagar, May 09: The associated hospitals of new GMCs and district hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir will soon have a lab module through which all diagnostic services would be computerized and patients will no longer have to wait in long queues.
The move is part of the Hospital Management Information System (JK e-Sahaj) and the lab module is one of the eight modules of the National Health Mission, Jammu and Kashmir.
The e-Sahaj project has been started in J&K and it is under implementation in 578 public health facilities for the first time. It has three module registration, OPD and pharmacy for better healthcare facilities.
Dr Parvesh, Program Manager for Hospital Management Information System, NHM J&K said the lab module is aimed to encourage an online system of health care and limit paperwork.
“We have started it in some hospitals in Rajouri and Jammu. We are working to start it under one umbrella in new GMCs and district hospitals across J&K. There is a need for improvement in many hospitals to start the service,” he said.
Parvesh said that now patients do not need to wait in long queues to wait for their turn to for the diagnostic tests and they don’t have to take tickets of receipts in the hospitals.
“Patients will be guided and get timing about the facilities that are available in the concerned hospital where a patient goes for treatment,” the Program Manager said.
“This is the beginning and people are responding positively and they are looking it. It will take some time. We will also start the module in labour rooms. There will be no false reading and it will bring transparency in healthcare and end paperwork,” he said.
After covering new GMCs and district hospitals, he said they will start the lab module in all the hospitals like sub district hospitals and primary health centres across J&K.
Notably, three unique public healthcare initiatives in J&K under the National Health Mission have already qualified for semi-finals of SKOCH Award 2023.
The public healthcare initiatives include e-Sahaj, Gap Assessment of Public Health Facilities and Implementation of Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in public hospitals.
On April 15, QR code-based OPD registration services were started first time in 11 leading hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir under Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) that aims to develop the backbone necessary to support integrated digital health infrastructure.
The QR code-based OPD registration service allows patients to scan the hospital’s unique QR code with their mobile phone and share their profile details with the hospital.
