Srinagar, May 24: National Conference (NC) Chief Spokesperson and Head of Media and Communications Wing, Tanvir Sadiq on Saturday chaired an important meeting with the party’s social media functionaries at the Nawa-e-Subha headquarters here.
The primary focus of this meeting was to leverage the power of social media platforms to effectively convey the party’s pro-people policies to the public, the NC said in a statement issued here. The session was convened and facilitated by Ifra Jan, the party’s Social Media Head.
Among others, the party’s State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar, Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir, Social media analysts and other key office bearers were also present on the occasion.
During his address, Sadiq underscored the critical need to counter opposition propaganda with well-researched facts and figures, steering clear of unnecessary mudslinging and point-scoring tactics.
He emphasised the importance of utilising social media to engage with diverse audiences across Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that social media should serve as an extension of the government.
“This approach will ensure maximum outreach for party initiatives and effectively address public grievances. It is essential for the party to maintain a robust online presence and communicate its message clearly to the people,” he said.
The chief spokesperson also addressed the Media In-Charges, emphasising that the future is in their hands. “Social media has emerged as a formidable tool for governments to engage with the public and foster meaningful dialogue. We must adapt to these new realities, strengthen our party at the grassroots level, and amplify the message of our president Dr Farooq Abdullah, alongside the people-centric governance of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah,” he asserted.
Sadiq said innovation has emerged as a crucial differentiator across various sectors, with technology serving as a vital catalyst for its realisation. “Our Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has consistently championed the integration of technology into governance, striving to enhance transparency and efficiency,” he added.
During the event, Ifra Jan provided an in-depth overview of the initiatives undertaken by the Social Media wing to spotlight public issues and facilitate communication between the public and the government. Provincial President Showkat Mir and State Spokesperson praised the efforts of the Social Media team, recognising their significant contributions to fostering engagement with people and highlighting their woes.
