Srinagar, July 04: The Divisional administration of Kashmir has set up a cutting-edge Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) in Srinagar, marking a significant milestone in real-time monitoring of the twin Yatra routes.
The establishment of this high-tech facility, located at Zainakote HMT Srinagar, aims to enhance emergency preparedness and response capabilities.
Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, spoke to Rising Kashmir about the innovative ICCC, highlighting its role as a central hub for decision-making during critical situations.
“The ICCC, equipped with state-of-the-art technology, provides seamless live feed from both Yatra routes, enabling us to promptly address challenges and respond effectively,” said Bidhuri.
The ICCC boasts round-the-clock representation from various departments, functioning as the “brain and nerve” centre for all Smart City IT-related initiatives, added Bidhuri. This versatile facility will not only prove invaluable during the Yatra but also during disaster scenarios, allowing for seamless coordination between administration, departments, and stakeholders.
“In addition to ensuring safety and security, the ICCC will actively monitor sanitation at base and transit camps. It will encompass a comprehensive traffic management system, early warning mechanisms, location-based targeted surveillance, and messaging services,” emphasized Bidhuri.
Furthermore, the ICCC will establish a robust traffic monitoring system to curb violations and provide essential traffic-related services to the public. Bidhuri elaborated, “the ICCC will also undertake GIS mapping, providing digital addresses for all properties within the city. Additionally, plans are underway to lay a 175 km long fibre network to ensure uninterrupted services for the local population.”
When queried about the revised traffic plan and school timings, the Divisional Commissioner Bidhuri acknowledged the favorable circumstances resulting from the commencement of the Yatra and the ongoing summer vacations.
“Typically, after 15-20 days, the Yatra rush subsides, indicating that things are progressing favorably,” he stated.
Bidhuri expressed gratitude for the cooperation received from the public, acknowledging the minor inconveniences faced and their appreciation for the authorities’ efforts in facilitating the Yatra.
With the establishment of the ICCC, the Divisional administration of Kashmir has taken a significant stride toward efficient crisis management, leveraging cutting-edge technology to ensure the safety and well-being of Yatris and the local populace alike.
