Heartwarming hospitality: Pahalgam locals embrace yatris with open arms

Pahalgam, July 1: The locals of Pahalgam, known for their remarkable spirit and hospitality, have set an exemplary standard by extending a grand and heartfelt welcome to the pilgrims embarking on the holy AmarnathYatra. This extraordinary reception has left an indelible impression on the yatris, symbolizing the region’s commitment to hospitality and kindness.
From the moment the yatris arrived in Pahalgam, they were embraced by an atmosphere of genuine warmth and compassion. Adorned in vibrant traditional attire, the locals lined the streets leading to the AmarnathYatra base camp, bearing cheerful smiles and open arms. They showered the pilgrims with flower petals, offered refreshing drinks, and served traditional Kashmiri delicacies, reflecting their deep-rooted desire to ensure a memorable and comfortable journey for every visitor.
One yatri, Mukesh Jain, expressed his gratitude, stating, “The hospitality of the people here in Pahalgam is truly unparalleled. It feels like a home away from home, and I am grateful for this incredible reception.” He added that the love and affection received from the locals were beyond words and a testament to the indomitable spirit of Kashmir and its people.
Another yatri, Ram Chandra, praised the commendable arrangements made by the local authorities, saying, “They have truly made us feel like family and have made our pilgrimage a memorable one.” He emphasized that Pahalgam had not only mesmerized them with its breathtaking beauty but also touched their hearts with the genuine love and affection of its people. The warmth of their wishes would forever remain with them.
ZubairNaik, President of the BeoparMandalPahalgam Association (Shopkeepers Association), emphasized that welcoming yatris with utmost warmth and respect was a sacred duty for them. “We consider it an honor to offer our services and make their journey a memorable one. Our town thrives on the blessings of the pilgrims, and we are committed to ensuring their well-being and happiness throughout their stay,” he stated. He further mentioned that through their heartfelt welcome, they were not only showcasing the beauty of Pahalgam but also fostering a sense of brotherhood among all.
Expressing his views, a local shopkeeper, Mushtaq Ah, said, “For us, the yatra is not just a religious journey; it is an opportunity to showcase our culture and traditions. We want the yatris to feel at home and take back beautiful memories. We are proud to be hosts to the yatris, and it is our duty to ensure their well-being and make their journey a memorable one. We hope that they carry back fond memories of Pahalgam and return in the future.”
Addressing the media, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Syed Fakhrudin Hamid, highlighted that the warm reception provided by the locals of Pahalgam to the yatris exemplified the unity of the country. He commended their efforts in showcasing the region’s hospitality and creating an environment of harmony and mutual respect.
The heartwarming welcome extended by the locals of Pahalgam to the yatris not only signifies the cultural richness of the region but also reinforces the spirit of unity and brotherhood. The memories of this extraordinary reception are sure to linger with the pilgrims and inspire future visits to Pahalgam.
