Srinagar, April 12: The University of Kashmir (KU) expressed profound grief over the tragic death of two students from Government Degree College (GDC) Sogam, an affiliated college of the varsity, in a road accident that took place at Vodhpora, Handwara Satuday.
In a condolence message, Vice-Chancellor KU, Prof. Nilofer Khan conveyed heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and the college community.
“We are deeply saddened by the untimely demise of these young students. It is an irreparable loss and our thoughts and prayers are with their families in this difficult time,” she said.
Registrar KU, Prof. Naseer Iqbal, also expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident and extended condolences to the bereaved families on behalf of the university administration.
The University of Kashmir stands in solidarity with the GDC Sogam fraternity and the families of the deceased, and prays for strength and courage to bear this immense loss.
Dr. Seema Naz expresses grief over demise of students
Professor (Dr.) Seema Naz, Nodal Principal of Kashmir Division Colleges, has expressed profound grief over the tragic demise of two students from Government Degree College (GDC) Sogam in a devastating road accident that occurred on Saturday at Vodhpora, Handwara.
In her condolence message, Dr. Seema Naz extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved families and the entire college community. “I am deeply saddened by the untimely demise of these young students. It is an irreparable loss, and our thoughts and prayers are with their families in this difficult time,” she stated. Dr. Naz further expressed solidarity with the GDC Sogam fraternity and emphasized the need for collective strength and courage to cope with this tragic loss. In a compassionate gesture, Dr. Naz also visited the hospital to personally check on the injured students, inquiring about their condition and offering prayers for their swift and full recovery. “The entire fraternity of Higher Education Department stands united in profound grief and extends heartfelt condolences to the families and friends affected during this tragic time. We share in your sorrow and remain in deep solidarity with all those mourning this immense loss,” the she said. “On behalf of the Higher Education Department, we extend our sincere gratitude to the dedicated doctors and medical teams who are providing exceptional care and support to our injured students. Your compassion and commitment are deeply appreciated.”
ACS Education pained over tragic loss of lives
Additional Chief Secretary (ACS), Education, Shantmanu, and Director Colleges, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir along-with whole Higher Education Department, have expressed heartfelt condolences on the tragic loss of lives of Aasia Rashid and Mymoona, students of Government Degree College (GDC) Sogam in road accident Saturday.
“We are deeply grieved by the news of the unfortunate accident that occurred in Handwara, resulting in the loss of these precious lives and injuries to other students”, the ACS said.
“We understand that words can offer little comfort during such a devastating time, but we wish to convey our sincere sympathies to the bereaved families, friends and the entire college community of GDC Sogam. The loss of these young lives is immeasurable and our thoughts and prayers are with you all”, he added.
Meanwhile, Director Colleges, Dr. Sheikh Ajaz Bashir also visited the injured students at SMHS hospital to personally assess their condition and offer support. He said that department is committed to ensure that injured students receive best possible medical care and support during their recovery. He added that department is deeply concerned about the well-being of all the affected students and pray for the speedy recovery of those who sustained injuries.
