Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved a gruesome murder of a minor in the Bishnah area of Jammu.

As per the Police spokesperson, 13 January this year at 11:55 PM, an alert was received at Police Station Bishnah, reporting that an unidentified individual had been brutally murdered with a sharp-edged weapon and the body was lying along Bhatyari, Bishnah Road. The deceased was later identified as Ajay Kumar(minor boy, age 17 years) S/o Romesh Lal R/o Bhatyari, Bishnah. The deceased was a conductor of the matador by profession.

The spokesman said that acting promptly, FIR No. 04/2025 U/S 103/190/191(2)/191(3)BNS & 4/25 Arms Act was registered at Police Station Bishnah and an intensive investigation was launched.

A special investigation team led by SHO Bishnah, Inspector Sushil Choudhary under the close supervision of SDPO R.S. Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu, meticulously worked through technical analysis and human intelligence to track down the suspects, he said.

Their persistent efforts led to the identification of few suspects and police parties carried out raids at various locations within Jammu and adjacent districts to nab the culprits and finally succeeded in arresting Anmol Sharma (aged 24 years) S/o Ganesh Dass R/o Jakh, Samba Nikhil Sharma (aged, 29 years), S/o Bawa Ditta Sharma R/o Jakh, Samba & Nishant Choudhary (aged 23 years) S/o Parshottam Pal R/o Vijaypur, Samba

During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to the crime, revealing that the murder stemmed from a personal rivalry. According to their statements, Nikhil Sharma launched a fatal assault on the victim using a sharp-edged Toka, while Anmol Sharma & Nishant Choudhary were actively involved in executing the crime, which they had planned to avenge the personal rivalry over altercation which had happened between the accused Anmol Sharma and other party, he said.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police have recovered the weapons used in the crime—a Toka and a Khukri—further solidifying the case against the accused. Moreover the V. W. Polo vehicle, bearing registration number JK21H 0505 involved in the commission of the offence has also been seized, he said.

With all three suspects in custody and key evidence secured, the investigation is progressing towards a watertight prosecution, he said.

J&K Police reaffirm their dedication to upholding law and order and ensuring that justice is served swiftly, he said.
