Budgam, Dec 14: Speaker of the J&K Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Saturday said that a university and the Sheikh-ul-Alam Research Centre will be established in Budgam district in the near future.
Accompanied by the Minister for Education, Sakeena Masood, and DC Budgam Akshay Labroo, the Speaker visited the Charar-I-Sharief Constituency.
During his visit, Rather informed reporters that he had toured the Government Degree College Charar-I-Sharief, noting that the institution is operating effectively. He emphasized the need for further development within the college, which is progressing positively.
“The establishment of a university in Budgam district is imminent, and we are also planning to construct the Sheikh-ul-Alam Research Centre in the Charar-I-Sharief constituency. I had acquired the necessary land for this purpose prior to 2014. Young individuals from the Charar-I-Sharief constituency have expressed their desire for enhanced facilities in the sports sector, and I have brought this to the attention of Minister for Education Sakeena Masood and other relevant officials concerning the construction of the research centre and sports facilities,” the Speaker said.
Rather assured that all improvements at the Government Degree College Charar-I-Sharief would be completed. He also visited the SDH Charar-I-Sharief, where he engaged with local residents and medical professionals. Minister Sakeena Masood assured the community that their concerns would be addressed. “We are committed to resolving all issues faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he added.
When questioned about the Darbar Move Shift, Speaker Rather said that the Chief Minister is already dedicated to this initiative. This year, the Darbar Move was conducted in a limited capacity. It is anticipated that a full-scale Darbar Move will commence next year, as the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah, has previously expressed his commitment to the transition of the Darbar Move.
