Udhampur, Dec 30: Rattan Lal Gupta, Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Jammu, has criticized the incumbent government for “totally ignoring” the remote areas, saying the people in these areas have been left to fend for themselves.
Speaking at a meeting of National Conference workers in Chenani, Udhampur, Gupta expressed concerns about the hardships faced by people in these regions. The meeting, organized by Ram Purshotam Sharma, District President Udhampur Rural, and Naresh Anthal, District Secretary Udhampur Rural, provided insights into the challenges faced by residents in remote areas. He highlighted the disparity between the government’s claims of equitable development and the ground reality in these neglected regions.
Rattan Lal pointed out the deplorable conditions in areas like Dudu, Basantgarh, Latti, Goldi, Pancheri, and Majalta. He emphasized that despite the government’s promises, these remote areas had been ignored in terms of development. Roads from Ramnagar to Dudu, Chenani to Dudu, and Udhampur to Panchari were described as highly deplorable, severely impacting connectivity.
The Provincial President outlined the dire situation, including the lack of medical facilities, power shortages, unemployment, and the scarcity of essential commodities. He asserted that only the National Conference could address these issues effectively, drawing on its track record of governance in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir.
Abdul Ghani Malik, former minister and Zonal President JKNC Udhampur, expressed concern over the government’s delay in holding Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Malik stressed the importance of a representative government to understand and address people’s problems, advocating for the immediate conduct of Assembly elections. Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary JKNC, called for simultaneous Assembly and Parliamentary elections, urging party workers to prepare for the elections to secure a National Conference victory.
