New Delhi, Dec 19: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology, MoS PMO, DoPT, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh on Tuesday praised the positive change in work culture resulting from a series of governance reforms implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the last nine years.
In his address after inaugurating the “Good Governance Week 2023” at Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Dr Jitendra highlighted that the best practices in good governance introduced in recent years reflect a significant shift in attitude and work culture. He emphasized that these governance reforms have not only brought about a positive change in the work culture but also have a long-term socioeconomic impact.
The union minister commended the government’s commitment to “Maximum Governance, Minimum Government,” which has led to increased transparency and citizen participation, contributing to the concept of ‘Ease of Living’ for the common man. He mentioned key reforms such as the abolition of the attestation of documents by Gazetted Officers and the elimination of interviews for lower-grade government posts, focusing solely on merit for selection.
Dr Singh highlighted the visible change in work culture initiated by PM Modi, emphasizing the optimal use of technology to enhance transparency and deliver services to the common man. He stressed the importance of adopting global strategies and culture to grow in the global world.
He pointed out that public grievances on the CPGRAMS portal have multiplied tenfold since 2014, reflecting the growing faith of the people in the government’s ability to address their issues. He highlighted the integration of CPGRAMS with the public grievance portals of several state governments and union territories, with the goal of achieving zero pendency in public grievances.
Discussing innovations in the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Dr Jitendra mentioned the use of Face Recognition Technology for the submission of Digital Life Certificates by pensioners. He noted that the government is actively protecting performing officers and creating an enabling working environment while maintaining ‘Zero Tolerance towards Corruption.’
Dr Singh also highlighted the success of Mission Karmayogi and the transformation of Swachhata into a mass movement, emphasizing its positive impact on the dignity of women. During the inaugural session, he launched the CPGRAMS Mobile app and e-office Advanced Analytics Dashboard, and released various publications, including the Journey of 25 Regional Conferences from 2014-2023, Annual Report of CPGRAMS 2023, and a Coffee Table Book on Special Campaign 3.0. The event was attended by Secretaries to the Government of India and senior government functionaries from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
