Baramulla, Dec 01: In view of the World AIDS Day with the theme, “Equalize”, Government Medical College Baramulla organised a series of events through the Department of Microbiology to raise awareness regarding AIDS pandemic.
The event witnessed the participation of staff and students.
The event started with the wearing of Red Ribbon followed by rally of students and staff which witnessed the presence of Principal GMC Baramulla, Dr. (Prof.) Ruby Reshi and MS Associated Hospital along with HOD Microbiology.
The Department of Microbiology had also collaborated with GDC Baramulla wherein rest of the programe was organised with enthusiasm and zeal.
The introductory remarks were presented by Worthy Principal , Prof. (Dr.) Ruby Reshi emphasizing on the importance of knowledge regarding the AIDS and consequent practical steps to be taken to address the issue at societal level.
The students of BSc paramedics performed SKIT to demonstrate various aspects of the AIDS pandemic ranging from facts and myths. A detailed lecture also followed by the resource faculty, Dr. Umara Amin and Dr. Showkat Ahmad of the Department of Microbiology regarding prevention, treatment, testing and management of the condition.
The very well informed presentations were keenly absorbed by all the students and staff of both the institutions.
The host of the collaborative programme , Principal GDC Baramulla presented concluding remarks expressing deep appreciation for the joint event and hoped for more collaboration and MOUs between two institutions in the future as well to create an enabling atmosphere for the sake of knowledge transfer for the good of society and students.
