Srinagar, March 19: The Government Degree College (GDC) Ganderbal organised a one-day seminar on “Essence of Ramadan: Nurturing Faith, Discipline, and Spiritual Resilience” on Wednesday, fostering discussions on the profound impact of fasting in cultivating self-discipline, piety, and spiritual growth.
Held in the college auditorium under the patronage of Principal Prof. Fouzia Fatima, the seminar was jointly convened by Dr Tauseef Ahmad Parray (Head of Islamic Studies) and Dr Jamsheeda Akhter (Head of Urdu). Vice-Principal Prof Mujeeb Kawoosa delivered the welcome address, highlighting the relevance of the theme. Dr Jamsheeda Akhter moderated the session, providing an introduction to the spiritual essence of Ramadan. The keynote speaker, Dr Mohd Iqbal Malik (Head of Islamic Studies, GDC Pampore), delivered an insightful address on “Ramadan: Socio-Spiritual and Economic Transformation”, emphasising how fasting not only strengthens individual faith but also plays a vital role in societal and economic well-being. The event concluded with the distribution of mementoes and certificates, followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Dr Nusrat Nabi (Assistant Professor, Urdu).
