Udhampur, Feb 28: The Department of Political Science, Government College for Women (GCW) Udhampur, under the aegis of IQAC, organised an awareness programme on the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act 2019 at the college campus Friday.
The event aimed to educate students on the key provisions of the Act and its impact on the political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir. Principal Dr Nalini Pathania, the Chief Guest, emphasised the importance of political awareness and urged students to engage in a participant political culture. The programme commenced with a formal welcome address by Dr Tanveer Ahmad Lone. The resource person, Dr Nazim Mohi Ud Din (Political Science), delivered a special lecture on the J&K Reorganisation Act 2019, providing a detailed overview of its legal provisions, the abrogation of Article 370, and the varied reactions from supporters and opponents.
The event was coordinated by an organising committee comprising Prof Swarna Devi (HoD), Dr Nazim Mohi Ud Din, Dr Tanveer Ahmed Lone, and Dr Roohul Amin Malik. Several faculty members, including Dr Swati Dutt, Dr Mool Raj, Prof Yash Kumar, Prof Yash Paul, Dr Om Prakash, Dr Partab Singh, Dr Satesh, and Dr Farhat, were also in attendance. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Roohul Amin Malik, marking a successful initiative in fostering political literacy among students.
