Kokernag, Jan 05: The sub-divisional administration Kokernag is exploring new offbeat places with tourism potential to bring them to the tourism hotspot map. Previously, Kokernag has always been restricted to the Botanical Garden, limiting its tourism potential.
Sub Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag, Suheel Ahmad Lone, said that he and his team, accompanied by Tehsildar Larnoo, recently visited Chuharnag. This frozen lake boasts stunning winter views, adorned with a three-feet snow cover. The aim was to experience firsthand experience of the remote and untouched beauty of Kokernag.
“Reaching Chuharnag requires a two-and-a-half-hour trek and provides a new experience to visitors. We encourage tourists and locals to explore Kokernag’s offbeat places like this. Our team is ready to guide those interested in trekking these hidden gems,” SDM said.
Syed Muiz Qadri, Tehsildar Larnoo, told Rising Kashmir that numerous beautiful destinations like Margan Top, Chuharnag, Mawar Nag, and Shilsar Nag have remained unknown to tourists.
“The revenue department is taking the initiative to showcase these less explored sites, putting them on the tourism map. This trekkers’ paradise, with its frozen lakes, breathtaking mountains, and more, offers an exhilarating experience for adventurers,” Tehsildar said.
He said, the sub-division administration of Kokernag warmly welcomes all tourists, nature enthusiasts, and adventurers to visit Kokernag and experience its beauty, which extends far beyond the respected Botanical Garden.
Tehsildar further added that 11 kilometres away from Larnoo lies a stunning meadow called Pannard Guridraman, a hidden gem for tourists. It’s a peaceful place, away from the hustle, offering visitors serenity. Adventure enthusiasts are encouraged to explore this untouched spot, perfect for a new experience.
