Jammu, July 02: After experimenting with pre-paid mode, the JKPDD has now shifted back to ‘post-paid’ mode. Deparment has started serving hard copies of power bills to consumers in the Smart Metered areas of both Jammu and Srinagar cities.
The Smart Metered areas of both Jammu and Kashmir were shifted to Prepaid mode by the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) around one and a half year back and consumers had been depositing their bills online.

The bills deposited online by the consumers are not being updated and inflated hard copies of power bills are still being served to the consumers without deducting the bills deposited online.
“We are migrating from one online system to another and it will take some time to get things in order,” Chief Engineer, Manhar Gupta, told Rising Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the sources informed that the company entrusted with the task has left the work due to which the confusion has been prevailing in J&K since the last more than 2 months.
Consumers said that they have deposited their power dues online but the hard copies of bills being served to them “do not reflect deduction of our deposited dues”.
Consumers said that the officials at PDD office suggested them not to pay their bills online.
“After all assessment, we will take a consumer friendly approach and steps are being taken in this regard,” the Chief Engineer, Manhar Gupta further said.

I think Power management in J&K should be literate enough now to handle online or else terminate themselves and employ more technical youth. The Prepaid was good for us as Lineman was not getting bribed and everything was justified.
